I´ve always enjoyed tinkering with electrics and even started a GCSE in electronics when I was 14. However my YM Offshore took priority and then I left home and went sailing at 16, so I never finished it.
Living on my own boat for 6 years though gave me a great opportunity to make lots of mistakes and I have never stopped learning, studying and improving boat systems.
Having a basic understanding of boat electrics has stood me in good stead as nearly every boat I have worked on, no make that EVERY boat, has had some kind of electrical issue to be resolved!
Everything from completely rewiring a 95ft Gaff Schooner and a 90ft Classic motor yacht to troubleshooting an integrated glass bridge on a brand new 57mtr Feadship, or tracing network cables on Felicita West a 64 mtr Perini Navi.
I love keeping up with technology and finding the neatest way to install the most reliable systems possible.
